For Migraine "I wanted to leave a review since I figured most people who bother to leave one, only do so when they have a negative experience. So for those of you who rely on reviews to make your decisions as I do, I just wanted to leave my own experience. I tried my first Nurtec today after avoiding it for a while out of fear that I’d have a negative reaction. I wish I had taken it before during my last two migraines because the only side effect I had was VERY mild dizziness. So mild that I could shower and walk around and feel fine. Other than that, no nausea, no stomach pain, nothing. My headache is gone and I feel completely fine. So grateful for this medication!"

For Migraine "I have taken Nurtec as abortive and preventative for 1 1/2 yrs. Developed heart AFIB and immediately stopping Nurtec and the AFIB stopped. I developed break through small twinge like headaches throughout day during AFIB monitoring. Also have IBS-C and Nurtec made it unbearable. Have had 2 doctors say Nurtec should never be used as a preventative, only abortive. Hopefully this review will help others."

For Migraine "I've taken several types of Triptans, and sometimes they take the edge off, or if I take them very early in the day, by night I might be feeling a bit better, able to sit on the couch with my kids--but still no normal function. So I thought I'd try Nurtec because of the hype and recommendations. This was definitely not for me. I felt drugged up. I was bursting into tears, acting weird, asked my sister to pull over to the side of the expressway because I thought I was going to vomit while she was getting me home (it was a sudden urge rather than general nausea). And then I was in a "haze" for a couple of days. It's definitely not something that I ever want in my system again. I'm a slimmer woman and also wonder why the same doses are given across the board. I'm definitely sticking with my Triptans (Frova, Nara)."

For Migraine "I was excited to try Nurtec as a preventive, although very hesitant to discontinue Maxalt, which was like a miracle drug for me after 40 years of migraines and trying treatments with neurologists in three states. Keeping records for all these years, I maintained between 8-12 headache days a month on average (some of these days were 3-day migraines and yes, I was taking Maxalt for those three days). I started Nurtec in July of 2022, every other day as instructed, and saw no significant difference, and was allowed to continue taking Maxalt for headaches, according to my neuro. However, my headache days went down to 5 in August - A FIRST!! - and again in September and October - I'll take it!! Now it is November 15, 2022, and I have not had a headache yet THIS MONTH. This is unbelievable to me. My takeaway is that, for me, it is taking some time to have a real effect. I will stick with it with fingers crossed for a headache-free month!! I am 62 yrs old and hopeful!!"

For Migraine "I started taking Nurtec about 6 months ago and it has really worked for me. I take it as soon as I feel “yup this is actually a migraine” vs a tension headache, which has been about once a week these last 6 months. It usually takes about an hour to set in but the pain melts away and I can get back to normal life mostly. I can still feel the migraine creeping under the surface so I would say it gets me back up to 85% of my normal self. I have had no rebound migraines, but a couple migraine hangovers the next day."

For Migraine "I've had very severe migraines for years. It felt like I was out of options. I received samples from my doctor of Nurtec. I was skeptical, to say the least. I knew it was only a matter of time until my next attack. I felt the symptoms early on, like I always do with the onset of aura. I said to myself, 'Here we go again.' Time to lock myself in a dark, quiet room with an ice mask, a cold washcloth, and earplugs. We've all been there. I remembered the samples that the doc gave me. I put one under my tongue, like the product instructed me to do. The product was flavorless and dissolved in seconds. The results for me were that, within about 30 minutes, the symptoms I was experiencing were completely gone. The plans that I originally had never even happened! I said to myself, 'This is impossible. Never in my life has this happened.' I've been migraine-free using Nurtec for over a month so far (which is life-changing for me!) Thank you Biohaven!!!!!!"

For Migraine "Woke up with a migraine. A few hours later I tried Nurtec for the first time. My doctor gave me samples. I placed it under my tongue as directed, and an hour later I have had no relief. I ended up writing this review, while searching to see if other people had the same experience. It's been almost 90 minutes and I would've hoped for some relief by now."

For Migraine Prevention "I have used several medications for debilitating migraines for years. They have seemed to get worse and more debilitating with hormone changes, weather, and allergies as my triggers. I finally found that the use of Topiramate daily in conjunction with Nurtec is the key for me. I used Nurtec at first for the onset of migraines and now it’s approved as a preventative so I can take it every other day. It’s like a miracle for me. It kicks in within 45 minutes and keeps the migraine away. If I have any residual headache left from a bad one, I can take Ibuprofen or Tylenol to knock out the remainder. If my insurance and pharmacy would work better together, I would never have to worry about being without it, but unfortunately, that is my biggest issue. On occasion, I get slightly nauseated but don’t need to be medicated for it because it is subtle. For me, it has been a game changer."

For Migraine "This is supposedly an oral dissolving tablet but the pharmacist said to take it with a glass of water and swallow it. Thank God I did because NO ONE TOLD me it was PEPPERMINT. I am allergic to peppermint and it burned like fire, made me nauseated to the point of wanting to throw up. Luckily I had some jello and ate that quickly and put out the fire. The migraine got worse. It did not work for me. I will NEVER take this again."

For Migraine "The one dose of Nurtec was great, until it wore off. Then I was left with paralysis on my left side which included my leg, arm, face, I could not roll over in bed/get out of bed without assistance. I could not walk unaided, let alone drive a car. I could not shower standing up, I had horrible pain all over, so I would sit in the shower letting the water wash over me to feel better until there was no more warm water. I had diarrhea & urinary incontinence. I wanted to sleep constantly. I could not think clearly or speak very well. I was not hungry and more. This went on for 3 months, I lost 40 pounds. My heart rate increased to 110 and has stayed around 100, even now 8 months later. I could not tolerate being outside in the heat. I can not lift more than 20-25 pounds. I went to my PCP, she treated my symptoms, poison control said there was nothing to counteract. Most of my symptoms have gone but some remain. I never had most of these before. Horrible pill."

For Migraine "1st use caused a panic attack (PA). I was desperate so I took it before doing my normal research, but I started research shortly after taking it. The first thing I saw was a Kardashian name. I wouldn’t have taken it had I seen that first as I feel it speaks volumes. The PA that this set off rolled for hours. Also, I now know (thanks to research) the CGRP is involved in wound healing and protective measures for the cardiovascular system among other things. I don’t trust the longterm safety of this drug. I’ve never had a reaction like this to a drug and haven’t had enough PAs for me to think that the PA was a coincidence. This drug is the only known trigger for my PAs. I won’t even donate what I didn’t take because I feel such conviction when it comes to this medication."

For Migraine "I just read in the comments this contains SUCRALOSE! I'm extremely allergic and my doctor knows about this but prescribed it anyways as a rescue medication. I've been bedridden for almost 6 days and went to take it again. Good thing I looked at these reviews. If you have an artificial sweetener intolerance, don't take it. I haven't been able to move, vomiting, nausea, increased pain etc"

For Migraine "Wonderful drug Nurtec gets rid of my migraines in one hour or less though I had one where it took a bit longer than an hour more like two for it to go away. Either way wonderful drug and the only migraine abortive that has worked for my migraines. Sumatriptan was a hit and miss all the time and Rizatriptan was horrible made my light sensitivity even worse and made my brain feel like it was going to explode."

For Migraine "My doctor ordered me the Kyleena IUD for heavy bleeding, I started having awful migraines several months after it was inserted. My doctor said hormones are 99% responsible for migraines. I started to take Imitrex and was a zombie on it and had to go to bed. I went to my neurologist and he prescribed Nurtec ODT. When my first migraine hit, I was in excruciating pain, and the box was extremely difficult to open. I tried to open it, but being in that much pain made it even harder. Once the package was opened after 5 mins. of trying, it started to work in 30-40 mins. I have never had a migraine leave so quickly. I was not nauseous or even tired after it worked, and I basically could go back to my normal daily routine. It is a huge blessing that I live in this day and time that we have drugs like this one available to us!"

For Migraine "So right off I was afraid it was gonna taste bad. It didn't taste bad it was minty but it did leave a really strong aftertaste, like metallic or bitter. It made me feel really weird Like whooshy. And I felt like I was talking really slowly. And I stuttered a lot. I felt really floaty, and I had a hard time walking. And the nausea was so bad. Worst than migraine nausea. Like I was salivating like I was going to throw up. But I didn't. My tongue also felt really weird and I did look in the mirror to see if it was swollen it wasn't it just felt weird like numb. And I ate a little piece of fudge. It tasted like pure butt. In fact, everything tasted bad. Even water. And I still had a migraine. It didn't progress any further, pain-wise. Just like it was at a standstill. So I took it around 1230 pm In the afternoon. And the migraine finally disappeared around bedtime about 10:30. So The only thing it really did was stop the migraine from progressing to further pain."

For Migraine "My Dr put me on Nurtec after suffering from debilitating migraines for over 15 years. Due to drug interactions I can't take Triptans or Topiramate. This has been a godsend. I still have lingering headaches, but my migraines are functional now whereas before I would be laying on a tile floor crying and vomiting. Only side effects I have had is an increase in bowel movements but I'll take it. The minty taste is calming as well. If I take it early enough at onset and then nap, I have noticed my migraine completely gone by the time I wake up."

For Migraine Prevention "This is the only thing that has slowed down and stopped many of my migraines. Have had them for 25yrs following 7 mths of birth control pills. Take it once every other day, dissolve under my tongue. Since I had serious allergic reactions to ibuprofen, Zomig, Imatrex, Ajovy shots and botox, I was scared to try this, but couldn't handle the side effects of the botox anymore. Chronic fatigue is no way to live with your head still hurting. Been on it since Sept, 2021. With my IBS, tummy issues were expected, so I always take it with food. Have had no side effects that noticeably pointed to Nurtec. Getting better, was able to start walking this summer, up to 3 miles. Migraines have changed, so can have painless ones, but they still stop. No complaints after going over a year with a non stop migraine. Still have the menstrual migraines ones periodically that don't stop and last for days, but in my early 50's so hormones are going to be crazy."

For Migraine "Nurtec works for both me and my girlfriend. A lot of the other drugs make you sleepy. This has 0 side effects and is 100 percent effective almost. I would say it has fewer side effects than any medication I've ever taken. The other reviews about the taste and wasteful packaging are hilarious. Everyone's body is different, but this is hands down the best medication ever. Even for hangover headaches, it takes them away. The only negative is they are wicked expensive and hard to get approved by insurance and you only get 8. I have to split them in half to make them last. Around 1200 bucks for 8 of them."

For Migraine "I started taking Nurtec over a year ago. It worked really well for my migraines and my headaches were gone within an hour from taking it. Almost immediately my hair started falling out. I didn't think anything of it I thought it was stress but as time went on handfuls of hair would be in my hands and in the shower drain after every shower. Overtime it really started to bother me and my hair is very very thin. I had blood work, I've had my thyroid checked I've been to a dietitian, I've been to a dermatologist, I've been to my gynecologist and my thyroid checked. I've gone through a litany of tests for hair loss and everything is fine. The only thing that's left is Nurtec. I stopped taking it 3 weeks ago. My hair is still falling out while not quite as bad. I believe in Nurtec takes approximately 3 to 4 months to get out of my system. I'm hoping it stops soon otherwise I'll be bald"

For Migraine "No! Stay away! Horrible! Do not take! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! This will have you screaming in pain, the headache it brings on is 200x worse than any migraine. Not worth it at all! Totally unhappy with ubrelvy too. I'm looking to just take a sleeping pill of some kind rather than a migraine abortive."

For Migraine "Minimal relief. Exorbitant copay of $370 with insurance coverage. Unable to take triptans due to brain aneurysms. Other CGRPs pretty much worthless. Botox helps, but wears off in about four weeks. Lidocaine injections help for a few hours. Wish they would just give me a big dose of Demerol and knock me out. Spent six days in hospital with hideous migraine. Given Gabapentin, Magnesium, DHEA, you name it. All just drug you up so you can't tell them you are suffering. Unless you deal with this condition, you have no idea the suffering. Not a headache, it's a Neurological event."

For Migraine "My neurologist prescribed this to me along with Reyvow and said they were the newest and best for migraine pain. These two meds do not work for me!! It was a ratio of ~1 to every 10 times I have taken these pills that they actually worked. Migraine usually came back a day or so later when it did work. Reported this twice to my long-time neurologist, her plan, take lots of magnesium, ginger root and an anti-emetic when I feel a migraine and then the Med combo! I am not new to migraines, been getting them since I was 7 (I just turned 61), so lots of meds and experience with these headaches. I finally had to fire my Dr. and move on. I hope I can find something other than Neurtec with my new Dr."

For Migraine "Originally prescribed in February 2023, I began using this medication as an abortive treatment for breakthrough migraines. I have been using it on a regular basis since then and suspect that it is causing an adverse liver reaction. Starting at the end of February, I began having intermittent severe abdominal pains from the right flank side, directly under the breastbone, which radiates towards the belly button. Two emergency room visits in February detected excessively elevated hepatic liver panel results. CT scan and abdominal ultrasound did not identify any organ blockage or visually apparent abnormality. Subsequent months of Nurtec use on a regular basis (at least 2x per week) have seen additional painful episodes of varying intensity. Most recently, on 20th June 2023, a repeat severe abdominal pain episode saw similar lab values, negative CT, MRI, and ultrasound results. This particular episode was preceded by the use of multiple Nurtec doses on 18 June 2023 (2x that day), then another dose in the afternoon of 19 June 2023."

For Migraine "Nurtec has been a lifesaver. I've suffered from migraines for many years, multiple days per month. Triptans worked for me, but they knocked me out - I couldn't do anything but sleep once they kicked in for several hours, and definitely couldn't drive or work. So I'd hesitate to treat my migraines just in case it wasn't one and might get better, and then suffered badly as I waited too long most of the time. Enter Nurtec: if I feel a possible headache coming on, I take one and then continue about my day. If I have a full migraine going before taking, it works within an hour or two, and I am fully functional: can drive, work, be active, do whatever I want to do. No discernible side effects. It's easy to take. It's amazing! (Make sure to sign up for the manufacturer's coupon so it doesn't cost an arm and a leg: I pay zero with insurance and the coupon!)"

For Migraine "I’ve taken it 4 times. The first time I felt better for about 6 hours. The next 3 times it has done nothing. I am also on my first injection of Ajovy. I suffer from “post concussion syndrome” and “post traumatic headaches”. The neurologist puts migraine nonintractable without aura on my medical notes as well. This is all due to a car accident. I was really hoping this would be the miracle drug I keep hearing about. I’ll probably finish out this pack. I can’t take triptans or beta blockers. I can’t take OTC nsaids more than 2 times a week. I have headaches and migraines daily. 30/30 days a month. I’ve tried the cefaly device (didn’t work). The only thing that seems to decrease the intensity and make me feel a little better is sleep. I really wanted the Nurtec to work but so far it doesn’t seem to do a thing. I haven’t had any side effects from Nurtec."
